Sheridan College's Veterinary Technician diploma (Program Code: PVETT) is accredited by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT), enabling graduates to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and pursue RVT certification. Curriculum: Hands-On Skills for Veterinary Excellence

Spanning four semesters, the Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College totals around 101 credits, blending theory, labs, and practical training to develop comprehensive competencies. Courses evolve from foundational knowledge to advanced applications, ensuring graduates meet OAVT standards.

In Semester 1, students cover Veterinary Anatomy & Physiology 1, Veterinary Lab Techniques 1: Parasitology, Animal Handling and Behaviour, Introduction to Veterinary Technology, Essential Communication Skills, Veterinary Technician Pharmaceutical Math, and a General Education Elective. Semester 2 advances to Veterinary Anatomy & Physiology 2, Veterinary Lab Techniques 2: Urinalysis & Microbiology, Introduction to Veterinary Nursing Techniques, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Radiography & Diagnostic Imaging, and Veterinary Technician Practicum 1.

By Semester 3, the focus shifts to Companion Animal Nutrition, Introduction to Veterinary Anesthesia & Surgical Nursing Techniques, Advanced Veterinary Nursing Techniques, Veterinary Lab Techniques 3: Hematology and Cytology, Veterinary Technician Practicum 2, Veterinary Dentistry, and another General Education Elective.
