Early Childhood Education

Sheridan College’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program prepares students to work with young children in a variety of educational settings. The program focuses on child development, learning theories, and curriculum planning, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to support the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children from infancy to age 12. Through hands-on placements in childcare centers, preschools, and elementary schools, students gain practical experience in creating safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environments. The program also emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity, family engagement, and ethical practices in early childhood education. Graduates are equipped to pursue careers as early childhood educators, preschool teachers, and childcare center directors, or to continue their education in related fields such as child psychology or special education.
